I was on ebay today and I saw the smooth bumpers for sale... They are brand new and have a "black gelcoat finish"... The finish looks like stock paint and is clear enough to shave in (from what I can see in the picture) but the guy also says above it that they need to be scuffed, primed, and painted to match... Has anyone ever purchased these from this seller? And is the paint good enough to just install the bumper right away?

Be careful with the urethane ones. I have heard of people having a ton of problems with them not looking right. I dont have them personally, but I have read on another forum.

don't get fiberglass bumpers. I've seen so many of them crack and chip over time. urethane bumpers are the best. but some will have a hard time fitting right weather it's urethane or fiberglass. the stock bumpers are urethane and will flex's if it get hit or bumped into, unlike fiber glass it will crack and make a whole in it.

How much heavier would fiberglass bumpers be than stock urethane ones?

I think you should keep your stock bumber. Keep it all original. There are not to many 94's out there.

Allright, you guys talked me into it... Ill just get the stock bumpers repainted. I just got the entire car all repainted about a year ago, but people kept on tapping my bumpers and sending carrages into them, I figured it would just be cheaper to buy new, allready painted bumpers than to have the old ones removed, sanded, sprayed, and installed again.

i have owned both fiberglass smoothies and urethane smoothies on my 96, there is nothing wrong with fiberglass bumpers, yes there are pro's and con's, but so what? the vettes are made of fiberglass and no one cares, the smoothie urethanes suck its to wavy at the bottom and it does not match up with cars body lines, i regret ever selling my lionel's smoothie fiberglass bumpers, in another month or so i am going to dump my urethanes smoothies and go back to fiberglass smoothie's.
